The Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric, more commonly referred as the “Lyric Opera House,” is one of the premier performing arts centers in Baltimore. The historic music venue was built in 1894 and modeled after the Concertgebouw concert hall in Amsterdam. Since its inception, the Lyric has hosted numerous concerts, performances, and special events, including touring performances by the Metropolitan Opera, concerts by world-renowned artists, and special speaker engagements. The Lyric is also home of the Lyric Opera Baltimore company.
Just a short walking distance from the opera house are the University of Baltimore and Baltimore Penn Station.
